                Motion that the members of the Senate take the IFO support statement to their departments with a request for them to provide comments, observations, or amendments by campus mail or email to the FA President over the next two months so that those comments can be considered for the first fall Senate meeting (Maloney/Condon) passed

a.                    Approve request from Racial Issues Colloquium to hold a sanctioned meeting with the chairs of affected departments; deans of affected colleges; and representatives of Academic Affairs, Registration, and Advising to address current staffing and enrollment problems

Motion that the FA strongly urge administration to adopt a margin-of-error approach to enrollment management (Maloney Frank) passed

8.        New Business

a.        Registration Process

Motion that the FA strongly recommends that the Administration alter the current online registration system to prevent abuses of the system that arise when one student registers for a class and holds it for another student until that student is allowed to register.  Also, we propose that the computer system governing online registration be modified so that a student cannot register for more than one section of one class in any one semester. (Carr/Nook) passed

Motion that the FA strongly recommend that students registering to take a class for a second or other subsequent time not be allowed to register for that class until such time as all other students have been allowed to register.  (Carr/Nook) passed

Motion to amend the previous motion to say that students not be allowed to register without the permission of the instructor of the course (Chisholm/Palmer) failed
