3.                    Minutes:

Motion to approve Executive Committee minutes of July 17, 2001 (Ore Foster) passed

 

4.                    Treasurer’s Report: no report

 

5.                    President’s Comments

a.        Chair’s Workshop

Motion  to invite the Chair Workshop committee to meet with the Executive Committee on September 4, 2001 with an earlier special meeting if necessary, to further discuss the motion for mandatory attendance to workshops and to ensure that both committees are coordinating properly. (Foster/Ore) passed

c.     Updates on Issues: Article 22/25, Contract Concerns in Departments/Colleges

Motion that the Faculty Association Executive Committee approves the request, made by the FA President, to authorize FA grievances on the first day of Fall Semester, unless an alternative agreement such as an MOA can be reached, on the issues of: implementation of Article 22/25, contract violations in the governance of the History Department in the College of Social Sciences, and violations and misuse of the Academic Misconduct Policy in conjunction with Article 25.  Furthermore, the Executive Committee supports the use of mediation as a university sanctioned ADR to resolve these issues internally and not file these grievances if an MOA, protecting faculty rights and interests, can be agreed upon. e.        Negotiations

Motion to add the SCSU Negotiator to the Faculty and EC mailing list (Foster/Ore) passed

f.         Website Update

Motion that the Faculty Association Executive Committee authorizes the FA President to hire a computer science student, coordinating with Ravi Kalia and Sunshine Shaney, to set up the FA website at the rate of $10.00 per hour for no more than a total of 20 hours.  The website will be developed before the beginning of  Fall Semester and will include a link to the IFO,  will be made accessible to persons with disabilities.  Modifications to the website as recommended by the Executive Committee will also require an estimate of the cost.  The FA website may also be used during Faculty Senate meetings to reduce the amount of paper distributed as attachments. j.         Sensitivity workshops

Motion that President Fisher will continue to discuss issues regarding the sensitivity workshop with President Saigo, bringing various concerns discussed in EC and President Fisher will bring a new proposal back to the EC and that the EC recommends holding it during the first few weeks of the semester (Foster/Ore) passed

 

7.                    New Business

e.        Retreats

Motion that the Faculty Association Executive Committee supports August 28 from 11:00 to 3:30 p.m. as a possible date for a Meet & Confer retreat.  If this date is no longer available, then the EC suggest using the first Pre-Meet & Confer and Meet & Confer on 9/27 from 2 to 5 p.m. as the retreat date.  The FA and the administration will mutually select the facilitator for this retreat.

a.        Joint Administration/Faculty Association Committee on Fixed Term

Motion to have the Past President Judy Foster contact Academic Affairs to get their position on the joint ADM/FA Committee on Fixed Term (Peterson/McKenna) passed
