a. 2 positions for Institutional Effectiveness. (EC 050305 4.a)

Motion:  the Director of Organizational Analysis and Planning position is fine; but the AVP Institutional Effectiveness position is so important, we should wait until fall and advertise it properly to get the best candidates.  This will also allow the ability for full-campus discussion (Subba/Gasparino).  Passed

b. UCC will send a document for the March 22 EC meeting

Motion to put together a small work group with Bill Branson from the UCC; Neal Voelz or another assessment person; someone from Records and Registration; someone from Academic Affairs; Steve Hornstein; and Judy Kilborn and have some draft forms ready by Fall for a response (Kilborn/Motin).  Passed

c. Chair Workshop (EC 040505 7.a)

We did talk about this and I sent a letter to the Pres. And Provost but I haven’t anything back yet.

FA President-Elect Kilborn and FA President Schoenberger talked to the presenter, and he seemed to understand the MnSCU/IFO contract.

d. Chronicle Commentary

Motion for a statement to be written to the Chronicle and also put out on SCSU Announce stating that the Chronicle has a right to publish whatever they want; but we object to the vilification of a faculty member in the newspaper’s commentary pages, especially when the faculty member singled out is a person of color.  Freedom of speech also carries responsibility.  While we affirm the right to freedom of speech, this right also includes responsibility (Condon/Seconded).  Passed
