SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING Filed by EC 6/2/10

Attendees: Joe Teff, Ron Fink, Rose Haugen, Dave Lee, Sam Johnson, Miles Heckendorn, Susan Burnett-Pick.
Absent: Gerald Bulisco, Bud Boeder, Bill Heikkila, Sandra Bryce, Mich Bender, Kenny Hendrickson, Stacie Black, Hannah Topp-Scheffers.
1. ACCIDENTS/INJURY REPORTS
Since April 27th, there have been 3 Work Comp events reported: 1 incident was a report only possible bodily fluid exposure, 1 was a report only exposure to fire extinguisher discharge, and 1 noise exposure. The noise exposure resulted in ringing in ears. There were 0 lost work days in the past month.
2. OLD BUSINESS
A. Bike, moped, motorcycle policy draft will be presented to Steve Ludwig by July 1, 10.
B. MPCA well monitoring of oil at the power plant. Braun Intertec status report PO is completed. Testing was done the 2nd week in May. Will start drilling wells next 2 weeks.
C. Draft campus lockdown policy for CIRT team status report: met with St. Cloud PD. Meeting took place on May 27, 10. Notes have been received from last meeting.
D. Draft policies are being discussed for motor pool, and camp fires procedures being reviewed. Draft policy for motor pool is complete. John F. has for review. It will come back to the committee once the review is complete. John F. also has the camp fire policy draft, it is being reviewed. John F. is currently reviewing.
E. Electrical Arc flash survey (John F and Ron V). Investigating RFP. Being worked on.
F. St Cloud Fire department campus wide inspection of all building in 2010. Joe or Ron will go along with the fire dept. Started May 25th, no issues at this time. The 2 Stateview Buildings were inspected.
G. St. Cloud Fire department meeting with State fire marshal about college student fire safety education committee. The meeting is June 1, 2010 at 12 PM to approximately 3 PM in the Columbine room.
H. Campus AED Units review may need new batteries/pads. All units have been inventoried for updates and a quote obtained. Miles has written to VP Ludwig to see what funds should be used to maintain the AED units.
I. PAC Stage Rigging Inspection. Inspection completed on May 12, 10. Several items need repair, some immediate. A priority list has been requested and work on repairs will begin after July 1, 10.
J. Fire Truck Access near dorm. Dave L. will work with fire marshal. Dave has sent fire marshal information requested. Joe will follow up with the fire marshal.
K. SCSU health department of Atwood inspection. 60% to 70% items completed. Update report went to Health Dept. They are happy with our progress.
L. Joe T to investigate online safety training scheduled classes for building and ground department. Training is continuing.
M. Guardrails or chains needed on all docks higher than 48 inches. Maintenance is raising the ground up to 47/48 in level. Chiller Plant is putting chains on.
N. Keilhe Hall room G14 emergency lighting and emergency door hardware needed. Emergency lighting is done. Emergency door hardware is on order, Louie.
O. MS4 mapping of all campus drywells, outfalls, drains being identified by GIS and GPS. 175 locations have been identified. The goal is to develop an environmental web site. U of M has a nice site that we have received approval to use.
3. NEW BUSINESS
A. Small first aid kits are on order for departments. Replacement supplies can be ordered. The cost of replacement supplies will be changed to the department.
B. A draft has been written for guidelines on ABC fire extinguisher cleanup. If approved these written procedures will be implemented.
Additional discussion:
Brown Hall, Print Shop Area is requesting Radon testing after all the construction in that area. The noise problem with the ventilation is also being worked on by the contractor.
A security walk through of the walkways has been completed. Doors will be locked between Atwood & Centennial because Atwood stays open later.
CLEARY Crime Reporting report will now publish the actual policy or how to get to the policy information on the report regarding missing SCSU students who live on and off campus. Fire Safety - residential life and testing etc on campus. Fire Safety education. Emergency response.
