Julstrom called the meeting to order at 10:10am.

 

Ghosh moved, Petzold seconded a motion to approve the agenda. The sets of proposals from BIOL (MLS) and NURS were moved to the top of New Business. The GenEd proposals were struck, since under the current procedures, as noted in our minutes of Nov. 5, they do not go through this committee. With the modifications, the motion passed, vote 8-0-0.

 

Cook moved, Bekkala seconded a motion to approve the minutes of November 5, 2009. Motion passed, vote 7-0-1.

 

OLD BUSINESS

Cook moved, Jeannot seconded a motion to approve a Routine/Editorial change from the Center for Regulatory Affairs and Services for RAS 631. This proposal reappeared on our agenda because of the requirement that curriculum proposals originate with faculty. Motion passed, vote 9-0-0.

NEW BUSINESS

Hoff moved, Cook seconded a motion to approve the following package of proposals from BIOL:

 

SC – Change program name from Medical Technology (MEDT) to Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS), other changes

PC – Change name and description of BS in MLS. Delete BES option.

NC – MLS 200 Medical Laboratory Basics

NC – MLS 301 Fundamentals of Medical Hematology

NC – MLS 302 Fundamentals of Medical Chemistry

NC – MLS 303 Fundamentals of Medical Immunology

NC – MLS 304 Fundamentals of Medical Microbiology

NC – MLS 305 Fundamentals of Medical Immunohematology

NC – MLS 306 Fundamentals of Medical Microscopy and Urinalysis

NC – MLS 310 Anatomy and Physiology for Medical Laboratory Scientists

NC – MLS 312 Molecular Pathology for Medical Laboratory Scientists

Pending resolution of questions about credits for the proposed new courses and the wording of some learning outcomes, motion passed, vote 9-0-0.
