1. Call to order at 2:14 p.m. without a quorum. Quorum at 2:32 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes: Executive Committee Minutes of May 5, 2009 (EC061109 2.a)
Motion to approve EC minutes of May 5, 2009 (Motion amended for clarity)—(Kilborn/Palmer). Passed
3. Treasurer’s Report—to be given in July or August.
4. Announcements/Status Reports
a. Administrative Searches—there is a new COFAH Dean July 15 and new Provost July 1. Cogdill is on sabbatical. There was discussion and Jaede will follow up on some of the questions that EC had. There was discussion about the Equity and Affirmative Action position. Leigh is on the search committee and she gave an update. Palmer asked Leigh if she was getting a duty day for participating on the search committee during the summer, and she said she wasn’t. Palmer explained that he and the Provost agreed for one duty day minimum for those working on search committees during the summer.
b. Grievance Report—Palmer gave an update of what was discussed at the IFO regarding arbitrations of grievances. There was discussion. Hergert arrived during the item and gave an update on grievances.
Motion to go into Executive Session with staff—(Kilborn/Palmer). Passed
Motion to go out of Executive Session—(Johnson/Hergert). Passed
c. Foundations of Excellence (Warne)—Warne gave an update. Faculty did not participate in the webinar yesterday (non-duty day). He discussed upcoming fall plans. Jaede asked EC if they agreed that if there is anything further it should go through Meet and Confer, such as a task force or actions or implementations coming out of the report, and it was agreed. There was discussion.
d. IFO/FA Calendar for 2009-2010 (EC061109 4.d.1)—Kilborn asked to gray color-code non-duty days: October 22 and 23, December 24, and non-gray November 25.
e. 9-month appointments—Jaede gave an update. There was discussion and the item was added to the agenda.
f. Annually requested reports from Administration—to be posted on the FA website.
5. Call for new agenda items—none.
6. Unfinished Business
a. Response to Budget Proposed Actions—there was discussion.
b. Review of Senate Minutes of April 28, 2009 (EC061109 6.b.1)—not discussed.
c. Online Council (Co-chair selection)—Palmer gave an update. There will not be reassigned time for a co-chair. He would like enrollment management to be discussed too, which was added to the agenda. Jaede also brought up the IFO Academic Affairs position. Kilborn pointed out that people already have their schedules so this is very late to be looking for volunteers.
d. M&C items for first M&C—not discussed.
e. FA Grievance on failure to supervise regarding Article 20 in COE—not discussed.
f. IRB Policy Changes—not discussed.
g. Faculty hit by student—Leigh asked for a status update. Jaede gave a brief update of what he knew. There was discussion. EC asked Jaede to discuss Public Safety’s handling of these matters with President Potter.
h. Center Proposal Immigrant Workers in Minnesota (EC061109 6.h.1)—not discussed.
7. New Business
a. July EC meeting with new Provost—Kilborn asked that EC schedule another meeting to prepare for this. Jaede will send out an email asking for availability.
b. Update on email and announce as communication with faculty (Warne)—not discussed.
c. MOA regarding 9-month appointments—discussed above.
Motion to direct Jaede to explore the MOA for this campus regarding 9-month appointments with the university president or his designee—(Warne/Kasi). Passed
d. Enrollment Management co-chair (Palmer)—not discussed.
