It is my pleasure to announce that Dr. Geoffrey Tabakin has been named the Director of the Division of General Studies.  The Division of General Studies currently serves between 400 and 500 students each year.  The program focuses on providing a supportive learning environment intended to enhance the academic success of the DGS students.  Dr. Tabakin received a BA from the University of Cape Town, and his MS and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Dr. Tabakin is an associate professor in the Department of Academic Support.  He joined the SCSU faculty in 1989 as an assistant professor of Teacher Development and transferred to his current department in March 2007.  Dr. Tabakin is looking forward to working closely with the DGS Advisory Committee to strengthen the DGS programs commitment to student success.
