Position available:

 

Director of the Division of General Studies.  The position is a half-time director, half time teaching position with 30 extra duty days.  The appointment is for three years and is renewable.

Salary:

 

Current faculty salary plus 30 additional duty days

Responsibilities:

 

   Direct the Division of General Studies (DGS).  Schedule all COLL 150 courses, coordinate the                                                                   s selection of faculty and staff to teach COLL 150, conduct training programs for DGS instructors,

and facilitate bi-weekly meetings of the COLL 150 instructors.  Prepare and submit curriculum revisions and updates for COLL 150 and related courses as necessary.  Teach at least one section of COLL 150 each year or a section of a class that is paired with COLL 150.  Work with faculty to develop courses that can be linked with COLL 150 and/or RDNG 110 and RDNG 120 to support the goals of the DGS Program.  Work collaboratively with the DGS Advisory Board and regularly attend Board meetings.  Track the progress of students in the program.  Develop and implement an assessment plan for the DGS program.  Manage the DGS budget.  Work with the Director of the Connections Program to facilitate the placement testing of all DGS students.  Work with the Directors of Advising and Registration Days to offer summer advising and registration for new DGS students.  Work with the Advising Center to coordinate the advising for DGS students throughout their first year.  Assess the COLL 150 course and the DGS program’s effectiveness annually and submit an end-of-year report on the program to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Provost.

 

Qualifications and experience:

 

Applicants must presently be full-time tenure track or tenured faculty at St. Cloud State to be eligible for consideration.  Tenured is preferred. Experience working with first year students is required, and experience working with the DGS program or with developmental education at the university level is preferred.  The successful candidate will have a commitment to helping students succeed in achieving their academic goals and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
