Friends,

 

Dr, Michael (Mike) Gilbert has been named Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Director of the First Year Experience.  He begins his duties on Monday, July 16^th.  Dr. Gilbert comes to us from Coastal Carolina University where he was an associate professor of German and worked with Student Life as a grant writer.  He has 25 years of experience in higher education and holds a BA from Bucknell University, and MA and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison all in German.  He also holds a Masters of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Music History.  Dr. Gilbert has performed professionally as a vocalist and on trumpet.  He held faculty positions at Valparaiso University and Wake Forest University before joining Coastal Carolina in 1993.  Dr. Gilbert has a wealth of experience with new student programs, collaborations with Student Life and Development, and faculty governance.
